What is the wellness and spiritual retreat?

It is a retreat of 1, 3 or 5 days at the Jivan Parivartan centre in Tarkeshwor, on the north-western edge of Kathmandu. Each day includes gentle yoga, a guided stress-management session, yoga nidra and meditation, and a closing sound bath, with vegetarian meals from the centre kitchen.

No experience is needed. The retreats are led by Swami Anish Ji and Maa Nisha Kabir, for small groups. They are non-residential: you come to the centre each day and stay in a hotel. Most guests stay in Thamel, about 30 minutes away, and we can arrange a hotel there if you need one. On-site rooms are opening soon.

The 1-day, 3-day and 5-day retreats compared

All three use the same daily schedule. Longer retreats give you more practice and more rest. If you are not sure which length suits you, tell us how much time you have.

1-day retreat

One full day at the centre on the schedule below, with breakfast, lunch and evening tea with snacks. It suits people with little time, small groups of friends and organisations planning a wellness day for their staff.

3-day retreat

The same daily schedule over three days. With more time between sessions, you can settle into the routine and go further with meditation and rest.

5-day retreat

Five days on the same schedule, with more time for meditation, healing and rest, and for building a short daily practice you can keep at home.

Fees start from $250. We confirm the fee for your length and dates when you enquire.

What a retreat day looks like

This is the 1-day retreat schedule. The 3 and 5-day retreats repeat it each day, with extra time for walks, group sessions, meditation and rest. The centre is open Sunday to Friday and closed on Saturday.

  2. Breakfast

    Vegetarian breakfast

  3. Late morning

    Rest or a nature walk

Free time after the morning session. Some guests rest in the garden, others go for a short walk.

  4. Late morning

    Stress-management session

A guided session on dealing with mental pressure and strain, with simple techniques you can use at home.

  5. Midday

    Lunch

A simple vegetarian lunch, shared at the centre.

  6. Afternoon

    Yoga nidra and stop meditation

Yoga nidra is a guided relaxation done lying down. It is followed by stop meditation, a short form of silent sitting.

  7. Evening

    Closing sound bath

You lie down while singing bowls and other instruments are played around you. Evening tea with snacks follows.
