Kathmandu is Nepal's arrival point, its trekking hub, and the door to almost every great Himalayan journey, which makes it the natural base for the kind of retreat that actually changes something. Jivan Parivartan runs four distinct retreat formats from Kathmandu: a 4 nights / 5 days curated luxury journey to Upper Mustang for travellers who want the Himalayas with full comfort, custom corporate wellness retreats for teams in burnout, pre and post trekking yoga programs for groups heading into Langtang or Annapurna, and 2 to 3 day weekend resets in the green Kathmandu Valley foothills. Each is a full retreat in its own right; together they cover the spectrum from a single weekend to a once-in-a-lifetime journey into Upper Mustang.

The Mustang Luxury Retreat is our most distinctive offering and the one international guests fly in for specifically. Four nights / five days, maximum eight guests, USD 4,500 per person (twin sharing). Four nights split between two of the finest properties in the region: Shinta Mani Mustang (the Bensley-designed wellness lodge in Jomsom) and Royal Mustang Resort. All domestic flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara to Jomsom, all meals, all permits including the restricted-area Upper Mustang permit, daily yoga and meditation, spa treatments and cultural visits to Lo Manthang and the surrounding monasteries are included. A 7-day Mustang option is available for travellers who want more time in Lo Manthang. Hosts are Maa Nisha Kabir and Swami Anish, jointly, which is rare; most luxury retreats rotate facilitators.

Corporate wellness retreats are growing quickly as more Kathmandu Valley and international companies recognise burnout as a real operational risk. We design these to your team's actual situation: a tech team in deep-product crunch needs different work than a hospital nursing unit after a difficult quarter, which needs different work than a leadership group preparing for a strategic offsite. Every corporate retreat combines yoga, breathwork, guided meditation and Tibetan sound healing, and most include a clinical hypnotherapy session with Swami Anish for senior leaders or those who have specifically requested it. Pricing is custom; tell us your team size, duration and goals.

The pre and post trekking yoga retreat is built for the practical reality of trekking in Nepal. Most trekkers arrive jet-lagged, fly straight into altitude, and either pull a muscle on day three or lose three days of acclimatisation to a sluggish first week. We run a 3-day pre-trek program (altitude acclimatisation breathwork, strength yoga for the specific demands of trekking, mental preparation, sleep optimisation) and a 3-day post-trek program (deep tissue release, restorative yoga, muscle recovery, integration of the experience). Booked together as a 6-day combined package, the pre and post retreat comes with a 20% discount.

Weekend retreats in the Kathmandu Valley are the smallest commitment and the most-attended format. Two to three days, in quiet green properties roughly 45 minutes from central Kathmandu (away from city traffic, near the Shivapuri and Nagarjun forest), with daily yoga, meditation, simple sattvic food, and time outdoors. These are the retreats we recommend to first-time guests who want to see what we do before committing to a longer program, and to local Kathmandu professionals who need a reset they can do without taking a week off work.

Every retreat regardless of format runs on the same basic rhythm. Morning meditation around 6:00 AM (this is non-negotiable; the Himalayan tradition holds that the most teachable hours of the day are before the mind has constructed its day). Morning yoga practice. Breakfast. Mid-morning teaching or cultural activity. Lunch. Quiet afternoon (rest, journaling, a walk, or a one-to-one session with the facilitator). Afternoon practice or sound healing. Simple early dinner. Evening reflection. Early sleep. This rhythm is what does the work; everything else is the variation around it.

Who comes? Most of our retreat guests are international: travellers visiting Nepal for two to three weeks who want to anchor their trip around a real wellness experience, returning trekkers stacking a retreat onto either end of their trek, corporate teams doing offsites, and (a growing group) digital nomads based in Asia who treat Kathmandu as their twice-yearly retreat hub. We also host a steady flow of regional guests from India, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, particularly for the longer Mustang retreats. Group sizes are deliberately small (six to twelve depending on format).

Booking lead times vary. Mustang retreats need about 60 days minimum because of the restricted-area permit process, with peak spring and autumn windows filling 90 to 120 days ahead. Corporate retreats need 30 to 45 days for proper customisation. Weekend retreats and pre/post trek programs can usually be arranged within 10 to 14 days. Whatever you are considering, message us early; we can often hold a spot informally while you sort travel logistics. WhatsApp +977 9818514837 or info@jivanparivartan.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Look for authentic teaching in a real lineage, small group sizes, a clear daily schedule that balances practice and rest, and honest inclusions so you know exactly what accommodation, meals and transfers are covered. Nepal offers the full spectrum of retreats, from weekend valley resets and week-long immersions to Himalayan, trekking and luxury Mustang journeys, so match the format to your time and goals. Autumn (October to early December) and spring (March to May) give the clearest skies and best mountain conditions and are ideal for Himalayan and trekking retreats; valley-based retreats, meditation and healing run year-round, including the quiet, green monsoon months.
Retreats include daily yoga and meditation, accommodation throughout the program, all meals (sattvic vegetarian unless otherwise specified), and the structured program activities (sound healing, cultural visits, hypnotherapy sessions if part of the program). For the Mustang Luxury Retreat, all domestic flights, all permits including the Upper Mustang Restricted Area Permit, and spa treatments are also included. International flights, Nepal visa, travel insurance, and personal items are not included on any retreat. Detailed inclusions vary by program; we send a full itinerary on booking.
Mustang Luxury Retreat: 60 to 120 days, because the Upper Mustang Restricted Area Permit takes time and the Shinta Mani Mustang accommodation has limited availability in spring and autumn. Corporate wellness retreat: 30 to 45 days for proper customisation. Pre and post trekking retreat: 14 to 30 days to align with your trekking dates. Weekend retreat in the valley: usually 7 to 14 days, sometimes shorter. The exception is the Mustang spring window (March to May): aim for 120 days ahead.
Upper Mustang is a high-altitude region of Nepal that was the independent Tibetan Buddhist kingdom of Lo until 2008, and is still a restricted area that requires a special permit. Until 1992 it was closed to foreigners entirely. It is now one of the last places where pre-Cultural-Revolution Tibetan Buddhist culture remains intact and lived, with monasteries, fortresses, and a way of life largely unchanged for centuries. The price covers the restricted permit, all domestic flights, full board at two of the finest properties in the Himalayas, daily yoga and meditation, expert spiritual and cultural guides, and the small-group format (maximum eight guests, dual-led by Maa Nisha and Swami Anish).
Both. We have run corporate retreats for teams as small as four and as large as forty. Smaller teams (four to ten) often work best in our centre or in the Kathmandu Valley properties we partner with; larger teams move out to dedicated retreat properties further into the valley. We are particularly experienced with technology, healthcare and consulting teams, but the format adapts to any team carrying chronic stress. Pricing is custom; tell us team size, duration and what you are hoping to address and we will quote you.
Two reasons. First, most trekkers arrive jet-lagged, fly directly into significant altitude, and waste three days acclimatising or, worse, develop early altitude symptoms. A 3-day pre-trek program at our centre includes specific breathwork to support acclimatisation, strength yoga targeted at the muscles that fail first on a trek (calves, hip flexors, lower back), and mental preparation. Second, trekkers come back tight, hungry and disoriented. A 3-day post-trek program with deep tissue work, restorative yoga, and time to actually integrate the experience makes the difference between "I did a trek" and "the trek changed something". The combined 6-day package gets a 20% discount.
Yes, completely. Weekend retreats are designed to be accessible to absolute beginners as well as experienced practitioners. The yoga is taught at multiple levels; the meditation is guided; the sound healing requires nothing of you at all. The most common first-time retreat profile is a Kathmandu Valley professional or an international visitor who has never done a structured retreat before and wants a small, low-commitment introduction. Many first-time weekend guests come back for the One-Day Transformation Program or the 200-hour teacher training within six months.
Sattvic vegetarian throughout, which means fresh, simple, mostly local food cooked without onion, garlic or processed ingredients, designed to support meditation and asana practice (heavy or stimulating food makes both harder). Expect dal, rice, seasonal vegetables, whole-grain breads, dairy unless you are vegan, fruit, and herbal teas. If you have allergies, gluten or dairy intolerance, or other specific needs (blood-sugar conditions, low-FODMAP, vegan), tell us when you book and we will adapt. On Mustang, food is at the level of the Shinta Mani and Royal Mustang properties, which is well above sattvic-rustic without leaving the spirit of the retreat.
Message us on WhatsApp +977 9818514837 or email info@jivanparivartan.com with your preferred retreat, dates, group size and any specific requirements. We confirm by email and invoice a deposit (typically 25% for weekend and pre-post trek retreats, 30% for corporate retreats, 50% for Mustang Luxury). Balances are due 30 days before the program. Cancellation policies vary by retreat: weekend retreats are fully refundable up to 14 days out, then 50% to 7 days out. Mustang Luxury follows the lodge cancellation terms (typically 60 days for full refund, 30 days for partial). Full terms are sent with each booking.
