What is a Himalayan yoga retreat?

A Himalayan yoga retreat takes the practice you might do in a studio and places it where the tradition was born: among the high mountains of Nepal. The thin, clear air, the silence and the sheer scale of the landscape settle the mind in a way that is hard to find anywhere else, which is exactly why yogis have retreated to these mountains for centuries.

Our retreat is led by the teachers of Jivan Parivartan in the Himalayan ashram lineage. Days are built around breath, meditation and gentle but real physical practice, with time to rest, walk and simply absorb the surroundings.

What is included

  • Accommodation in a peaceful mountain setting for the length of the retreat.
  • Daily morning and evening yoga, pranayama and meditation.
  • A Tibetan singing bowl sound healing session.
  • Sattvic vegetarian meals throughout.
  • Guided nature walks and free time to rest and reflect.
  • In-country transfers related to the retreat from Kathmandu.

Frequently Asked Questions

You do not need to be especially fit. The yoga is breath-led and adaptable, and we structure days around the altitude rather than pushing hard. A reasonable level of walking comfort helps for the gentle nature walks, and we always allow time to acclimatise. Tell us about any heart, lung or blood-pressure conditions so we can plan safely.
The retreat is set in mountain country chosen for its beauty and accessibility rather than extreme altitude, and we build in time to acclimatise. We keep the first day’s practice gentle, encourage plenty of water, and watch for anyone feeling the elevation. If you have specific concerns, talk to us before booking.
Autumn (October to early December) and spring (March to May) offer the clearest skies and the finest mountain views, and are the ideal seasons for this retreat. We can also run it at other times depending on conditions; contact us for the current schedule.
Message us on WhatsApp at +977 9818514837 or email info@jivanparivartan.com with your preferred dates and group size, and we will confirm availability and send a tailored quote. A deposit secures your place.
